The summer is a great time to be out riding bikes and we have several courses to add flavour to your school holidays.
We have a 5-day holiday cycling club in the week beginning 29 July when you’ll be cycling on quiet roads, learning to ride independently, picking up some basic bike maintenance skills, enjoying a picnic on an out-ride and getting a taste of off-road riding. The club costs a mere £90 for the week, which breaks down into just £18 a day.
We also have several dates when you can do two-day Bikeability courses – the national scheme to give school children the skills to navigate the roads with confidence.
Bikeability courses include Level 1 – the basics of bike control – and Level 2, which covers the complexities of riding on quiet roads in traffic and gives you the basic skills needed to ride with confidence: observation, communication, road positioning and knowing who has the right of way.
The Level 1 and 2 courses are free of charge, being funded by Reading Borough Council.
Level 1 and 2 courses are aimed at 9 to 12-year-olds. We also have a Level 2 refresher course.
Level 3 is for slightly older and more experienced riders who are ready to cycle in busier and more complicated traffic situations. The cost per student is £15 for the two-day course.
If you have not ridden yet, there are also Learn to Ride sessions for you. If you’re between 3-and-a-half and 10 or older, our instructors will soon get you rolling.
