Choose the correct course for your child’s riding skill level. We cannot give a refund if your child is booked on the wrong course for their riding ability, or if you book and can no longer make the course, as we need to cover our costs. We may however be able to transfer your place to another suitable course, provided one is available.
Learn to ride — learn to balance and pedal a bike without stabilisers. Ages 7 and above.
Please be careful if you are taking photos / filming your child: be aware of other children in your images. Please do not place images on social media without permission of other children and other parents.
Level 1 and Level 1+ — cycle control skills. Learn how to confidently control your bike. This includes starting and stopping, riding with one hand, emergency stops and riding in a group. Participants must be able to ride a bike for 1 minute and start and stop independently before joining this course. Level 1+ is for younger riders who aren’t old enough to join a full Level 2 course. They will get a short intro to road riding on quiet roads – ages 6 to 8-years-old.
Level 2 – riding on residential roads. Your child will learn to ride on relatively quiet roads at the start of the course, progressing to busier roads, where we will cover essential skills such as observation, communication, when to give way and road positioning. This course will include a Level 1 off-road assessment which the child must pass before progressing to Level 2. Riders must attend the whole course even if they have already completed Level 1 elsewhere.
For riders aged 11 and above.
Level 3 – on busier roads – up to 50 mph with traffic lights and multilane roundabouts. Confident, experienced riders will learn to negotiate traffic and more complex road infrastructure on this advanced riding course. They should have completed Level 2 during a previous course.
For confident road riders aged 11 and above who have completed Level 2 previously. Suitable for secondary school children who want to travel independently to activities.
